Mercer University HOSA's

Point System

This system is used to distinguish active members vs. non-active members in the Mercer University HOSA chapter. There are many perks to competing in this system so we encourage all members to participate!

What is an "active member"?

Anyone who pays dues to Mercer University HOSA is considered a HOSA member. However, we believe in rewarding our members who go above and beyond. According to our point system, an "active member" is considered anyone that acquires at least 30% of the total points offered for a school year.

How do I get points?

Every HOSA meeting, event, and volunteer hour is worth a pre-determined amount of points. If you participate in these events (and sign-in on our sign-in sheet at the event), you will be awarded the amount of points that event is worth. You can also win points by advertising some of our events on social media and participating in our social media opportunities.

**See list below for point opportunities and values.

How do I know how many points I have?

Our wonderful Secretary, Mylan, is in charge of keeping track of points. She will keep an excel spreadsheet (seen below) updated of all point opportunities and how many points each member has. It will be updated within two days of the conclusion of an event. If you ever notice that your points are wrong, please email Mylan (email found on the "Contact" page of our website) an appeal. An appeal email must include your first and last name, the event you participated in, and the amount of points you believe you are supposed to have.

**Keep in mind that if you don't sign in to an in-person events, or you don't TAG Mercer HOSA in your social media event posts, you WON'T get points!

What do I get for participating?

Mercer HOSA wants to reward all active members for their dedication to our chapter. We have many perks to participating in our point system:

- The top 3 point earners of each semester will win a piece of HOSA Merchandise. The 4-10th place earners will have their name entered into a raffle to win a piece of HOSA merchandise. The winners will all be announced on social media.

- At the HOSA End of the Year Awards Night, the member with the most amount of acquired points will win a gold, engraved HOSA medal.

- At the HOSA End of the Year Awards Night, the member with the second most amount of acquired points will win a silver, engraved HOSA medal.

- At the HOSA End of the Year Awards Night, the member with the third most amount of acquired points will win a bronze, engraved HOSA medal.

- At the HOSA End of the Year Awards Night, the names of ALL active members for that year will be entered into a raffle for a HOSA sweatshirt. The winner will be announced on stage.

- All active members will be rewarded a Gamma Eta Rho pin to signify their dedication to our HOSA chapter. These will be awarded at Awards Night.

- Cords will be awarded to all graduating seniors that are deemed active members at the end of an academic year. Cords cost $8.00 and must be paid for by the member if they wish to receive one. You must be an active member for at least two year, and one of which, MUST be your senior year to be eligible for a cord.

**All of these prizes are ONLY rewarded to active members. Non-active members are automatically disqualified from winning these awards.
